This year, our hot-air balloon has made a stop in Ascoli Piceno, a beautiful city on the adriatic side, which the artist Filippo Sassoli represented with the famous Piazza del Popolo, a place among the most admired in italy. The old town is almost entirely built of travertine, and still retains the many noble towers and bell, for this Ascoli is also called the "City of a hundred towers".
 

The medieval city of Ascoli Piceno still today celebrates Quintana: two exciting tournaments of chivalry held in the summer. Both are preceded and followed by an imposing procession, with about one thousand four hundred listed with precious costumes of the period.
